IN a major embarrassment for Football Federation Australia, Socceroos star Tim Cahill was allegedly thrown out of a Sydney nightclub after a fracas with security guards, The Sunday Telegraph reports.
On the eve of the launch of its bid to host the World Cup, the FFA was investigating reports that Cahill was involved in an altercation at Trademark in Kings Cross while partying with his Socceroo teammates in the early hours of Friday.
The incident allegedly took place after the players decided to party on following the Australian Football Awards at Sydney’s Hilton Hotel.
While the FFA has said Cahill did nothing wrong, one source alleged he was inebriated at the club and was refused service by bar staff.
The Everton midfielder was allegedly angered when told he should leave the premises.
A source said Cahill was involved in a verbal stoush that escalated into a physical “push and shove” with club security before he was shown the door.
“He then got outside where it was about 10 of them, including other players and about five security,” the source said.
“They were fired up and looked like they wanted to go on with it, but then they jumped in a car and got out of there.”
Another witness at the bar said Cahill and a group of friends had partied at the venue on Wednesday and Thursday night.
“A bar staff member refused to serve (Cahill) any more alcohol because he was a bit drunk,” he said.
